* Moody's says RWE, Essent downgrades reflect concerns earnings growth might not compensate for higher debt burden

* Moody's says RWE's Essent acquisition, plus existing capital investment programme to boost 2009 net debt "substantially"

* Moody's says negative outlook reflects risk that RWE's credit metrics take longer to recover in current climate.
