STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps close 0.7 pct lower

The FTSE Small Cap index .FTSC ends down 0.7 percent, while the blue chips .FTSE loses 1 percent, and the midcaps .FTMC are 0.8 percent lower.

Shares in JJB Sports (JJB.L) lose a quarter of their valuex after the sports retailer says it is looking at an equity fundraising. This follows a report in Saturday's Times newspaper that the firm is seeking to raise at least 50 million pounds by selling shares at 12 pence each. [ID:nL6125010]

KBC Advanced Technologies (KBCAT.L) gains 2.9 percent after the consultant to the energy industry issues a first-half trading update, prompting Arbuthnot Securities to repeat its "buy" rating on the stock. [ID:nL6153258]
