LONDON, June 9 (Reuters) - The amount of metal ETF Securities holds to back its platinum exchange-traded commodity rose nearly 16,000 ounces or 5.1 percent on June 8, the company said in a daily report on Tuesday.

Its ETFS Physical Platinum product (PHPT.L) holds 324,690 ounces of metal, against 308,827 ounces a day before, the company said.

Its physical gold-backed product, ETFS Physical Gold (PHAU.L), also saw inflows of nearly 21,0000 ounces or 0.7 percent that day, bringing its holdings to 2.837 million ounces, ETF Securities said.

The company issues securities backed by physical stocks of commodities such as precious metals, giving investors exposure to movements in the asset price without having to buy and store the commodity themselves.
