STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-Aviva falls on dividend cut concerns

Fri Jul 10, 2009 11:15am EDT

Stocks

Shares in Aviva (AV.L) fall 4.2 percent, topping the FTSE 100 .FTSE losers and slipping for a fifth session in a row, on lingering concerns that the life insurer may cut its dividend, traders say.

"There is speculation that it's going to cut dividend," a trader says.

Aviva's decline puts pressure on other UK life insurers, traders say. Prudential (PRU.L), Legal & General (LGEN.L), Old Mutual (OML.L) and Standard Life (SL.L) are down 1.8 to 2.6 percent.
