PARIS, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Club Med (CMIP.PA) saw year-to-date bookings as a percentage of comparable revenues drop 13.8 percent as of Sept. 5, a performance in line with the industry average, the French resort operator said on Friday.

By comparison, bookings were down 18.3 percent as of June 6.

Club Med said third-quarter comparable revenue fell 14 percent to 315 million euros.

It said the decline since the beginning of the year reflected in part the group's capacity cuts in response to the recession, which has hit the hotel and tourism sectors.

"Beginning in late June, third-quarter revenue was boosted by the increase in last-minute sales, owing to the positive impact of the decision to postpone advertising and marketing initiatives and concentrate them mainly in July," it said.

Club Med's fiscal year runs from Nov.1 to Oct 31. (Reporting by Astrid Wendlandt)
