Shares in Education Development International (EDD.L) rise 17.4 percent after the provider of vocational qualifications says its annual profit will be ahead of market expectations.

The company says its first-quarter trading performance significantly exceeded expectations and that it has maintained the trend over the last three months.

"The update comes only three months after January's 50 percent upgrades, highlighting once again the group's exceptionally strong trading momentum, which is showing no signs of abating," says Brewin Dolphin analyst James Tetley, who raises EDI's price target to 100 pence from 80 pence.
