STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps gain 0.2 percent early

The FTSE Small Cap index .FTSC gains 0.2 percent in early trade, while the midcaps .FTMC add 0.3 percent, but the blue chips .FTSE drop 0.2 percent.

Trinity Mirror (TNI.L) is among the top UK small cap risers, climbing more than 8 percent, after UBS upgrades its recommendation on the newspaper publisher to "buy" from "neutral", in a sector review.

Management Consulting (NZX.L) is the biggest FTSE Small Cap faller, off over 10 percent, after saying the group may come in below market consensus for 2009. [ID:nWLA7833]
