NEW YORK, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks on the move on Wednesday:

BP PLC (BP.N), $52.68, up 4.4 pct (U.S. shares)

The company said it made a "giant" oil discovery in the Gulf of Mexico at its Tiber Prospect. [ID:nL2530648]

TEXTRON INC (TXT.N), $17.03, up 10 pct

Goldman Sachs upgraded the company to "buy" from "neutral" and added the company to its Conviction Buy list. [ID:nBNG530234]

LAS VEGAS SANDS CORP (LVS.N), $14.12, up 4.9 pct

The company has secured commitments to raise up to $600 million through the sale of exchangeable bonds. [ID:nN02534339]

BIO-REFERENCE LABORATORIES INC (BRLI.O), $34.98, up 5 pct

The company reported third-quarter earnings that beat expectations, sending its stock to an all-time high in intraday trading. [ID:nBNG364042]

BLYTH INC (BTH.N), $40.60, down 7.6 pct

The company swung to a second-quarter loss and affirmed its full-year 2010 profit view. [ID:nBNG328617]

DONALDSON CO INC (DCI.N), $35.04, down 5.1 pct

The company late Tuesday gave a 2010 revenue outlook that was below expectations. [ID:nBNG358153]

VERIFONE HOLDINGS INC (PAY.N), $13.94, up 25 pct

The company late Tuesday reported third-quarter results that beat expectations. [ID:nBNG22250]

DHT MARITIME INC (DHT.N), $3.99, down 21 pct

The company reported adjusted second-quarter earnings that missed expectations. [ID:nBNG48728]

BROWN-FORMAN CORP (BFb.N), $47.18, up 7.7 pct

The company reported an increase in first-quarter earnings and affirmed its full-year profit view. [ID:nN02508217]

PEREGRINE PHARMACEUTICALS INC (PPHM.O), 87 cents, up 9 pct

The company said data showed that its brain cancer agent appeared to be well tolerated in a study. [ID:nWNAB5977]

BLOCKBUSTER INC (BBI.N), $1.24, up 36 pct

The company reduced its letters of credit agreement with Viacom (VIAb.N) by $50 million. [ID:nWNAB6025]

JOY GLOBAL INC (JOYG.O), $35.78, down 3.6 pct

DANAHER CORP (DHR.N), $62.56, up 3.5 pct

The diversified manufacturer plans to cut more jobs as it accelerates its restructuring. [ID:nBNG178881]

JOS. A BANK CLOTHIERS INC (JOSB.O), $44.88, up 5.1 pct

The men's clothing chain reported second-quarter earnings that beat expectations. [ID:nBNG489738]

ZALE CORP (ZLC.N), $5.45, down 7.6 pct

The jewelry retailer postponed the release of its results by a week, saying it had identified certain noncash adjustments affecting prior-period results. [ID:nBNG91657]

APPLIED SIGNAL TECHNOLOGY INC (APSG.O), $24.02, down 8.4 pct

The company late Tuesday posted a quarterly profit that missed estimates and said it bought privately held Pyxis Engineering for $16.3 million in cash. [ID:nBNG504606]

SEACHANGE INTERNATIONAL INC (SEAC.O), $7.30, down 18 pct
