U.S. regulators told top banks that they need to raise
capital in order to build a cushion officials hope will restore
faith in the financial sector. [ID:nN07333426]
Bank of America needs to raise $33.4 million while
Citigroup needs $5.5 billion and Wells Fargo needs $13.7
billion.
Shares of BofA gained 13 percent to $15.32 in premarket
trading while Citigroup was up 10.5 percent to $4.21. Both
companies are Dow components. Wells Fargo slid 1.6 percent to
$23.36 before the bell.

Rochdale Securities analyst Richard Bove said the three
banks had unclear plans to add capital following the release of
the government's stress test results.
"KeyCorp intends to convert its preferred but if it keeps
losing money it may find that this does not meet the
requirement," Bove wrote. "Regions Financial is seeking advice
from its investment bank and this may include selling the
company. SunTrust has made no statement but is likely to issue
a government convertible preferreds in my judgment."
Regions shares rose 12.4 percent to $5.88 in premarket
trade while KeyCorp was up 9.1 percent to $7.40 and SunTrust
closed at $18.52 on Thursday.
MCDONALD'S CORP (MCD.N)
The fast food company reported an increase of 6.9 percent

Shares of the Dow component rose 2.6 percent to $54.80 in
premarket trading.
WINDSTREAM CORP WIN.N
The company reported its first-quarter results and forecast
a dividend payout ratio between 57 percent and 63 percent in

The company first-quarter earnings that beat expectations
