ATLANTA, July 9 (Reuters) - Comair expects to lay off up to 100 pilots in wake of capacity cuts by parent company Delta Air Lines Inc (DAL.N), the regional carrier said on Thursday.

The furloughs are expected to take place between Sept. 1 and year's end, Comair spokeswoman Christine Wever said.

Cincinnati-based Comair has 1,088 pilots, she added.

Wever said the number of planned furloughs could be reduced based on voluntary options that could be put in place as it works with the Air Line Pilots Association union. (Reporting by Karen Jacobs; editing by Andre Grenon)
