Over 1.4 mln bpd gasoline output lost by Ike-EIA

WASHINGTON

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The 14 oil refineries shut in Texas by Hurricane Ike represent over 1.4 million barrels a day in lost gasoline production and nearly 1 million barrels a day in lost distillate fuel output, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Saturday.

Since refineries along the Gulf Coast were first shut by Hurricane Gustav, over 21 million barrels of petroleum products have not been produced, including 10 million barrels of gasoline and 7 million barrels of distillate fuel, the Energy Department's analytical arm said in its daily hurricane update.

"This does not even include reduced production from refineries that have reduced runs at various times during Hurricanes Gustav or Ike," the EIA said.
