* URS to provide services to national energy tech lab

* Contract worth $322 million over five years

NEW YORK, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Engineering and construction company URS Corp (URS.N) said on Friday it has been awarded a contract to provide research and engineering services to the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL).

The contract includes a two-year base period and options that would extend it for an additional three years and is worth $322 million over the full five years, the company said.

NETL is the national laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy. URS will provide research and engineering services to NETL's Office of Research and Development.

The company's team will be responsible for providing personnel, facilities, equipment, materials, supplies and services to support NETL on the development and implementation of basic and applied energy research. (Reporting by Steve James, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
