NEW YORK, June 19 (Reuters) - Some U.S. stocks on the move on Friday:
RESEARCH IN MOTION LTD (RIMM.O)
The BlackBerry maker gave an outlook late Thursday that fell short of expectations. It also reported first-quarter earnings that beat estimates. For story see [ID:nN18406026].
Shares fell 4.7 percent to $72.96.
MICROSOFT CORP (MSFT.O)
VMWARE INC (VMW.N)
Goldman Sachs added Microsoft to its Americas conviction buy list, saying better revenue drivers, expense management, and sizable cash balances provide more opportunities for bottom-line beats.
At the same time, the firm downgraded VMware to neutral, citing limited upside. [ID:nBNG86897]
Shares of Microsoft, a Dow component, rose 2.6 percent to $24.10 while VMware shares were down 1.3 percent to $29.53.
AMBAC FINANCIAL GROUP (ABK.N)
The bond insurer has again postponed the launch of its municipal bond arm after struggling to raise money from outside investors to fund the unit. [ID:nN19447607]
Shares sank 15 percent to $1.06.
BLACKSTONE GROUP (BX.N)
Chinese sovereign wealth fund China Investment Corp is poised to put $500 million into a Blackstone Group fund, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. [ID:nN19437991]
Shares gained 3.4 percent to $11.53.
A-POWER ENERGY GENERATION SYSTEMS LTD (APWR.O)
The company agreed to sell about $40 million of senior convertible notes, plus warrants, to several institutional investors. [ID:nBNG480086]
Shares sank 12 percent to $8.53.
OCULUS INNOVATIVE SCIENCES INC (OCLS.O)
Shares surged 9 percent to $3.65 after it reported "promising results" from a feasibility study for acne treatment with an enhanced formulation of its Microcyn skin and wound gel. [ID:nBNG479741]
ABBOTT LABORATORIES INC (ABT.N)
U.S. drug reviewers have recommended additional study of delayed development reported in children of mothers who took Abbott's anti-seizure drug Depakote, a memo released on Friday said. [ID:nN19438942]
Shares edged 0.7 percent lower to $47.34.
WYNDHAM WORLDWIDE CORP (WYN.N)
Shares gained 8.2 percent to $12.12 after the company affirmed its second-quarter outlook. [ID:nN19441323]
APPLE INC (AAPL.O)
The new version of the company's popular iPhone smartphone went on sale on Friday. Investors also await the return of Chief Executive Steve Jobs from medical leave. [ID:nN18225640]
Shares rose 1.3 percent to $137.63.
NYSE EURONEXT (NYX.N)
The owner of the New York Stock Exchange will take a 20 percent stake in the newly created Qatar Exchange for $200 million. [ID:nN19435883]
Shares rose 1.1 percent to $28.38.
VALERO ENERGY CORP (VLO.N)
LUKOIL (LKOH.MM) will buy a stake in a Dutch refinery from France's Total (TOTF.PA), blocking a bid by Valero to enter the region. [ID:nLJ579651]
Shares of Valero slid 0.2 percent to $17.38.
SONY CORP (SNE.N) (6758.T)
The company's CEO said turnaround efforts, including job cuts, plant closures and management changes, were advancing well. [ID:nT102905]
U.S.-listed shares rose 1.1 percent to $26.26.
CITIGROUP INC (C.N)
Rochdale Securities analyst Dick Bove started coverage of the bank with a "buy" rating, describing the company as one of the most important in the economy.
Shares gained nearly 1 percent to $3.16.
JPMORGAN CHASE & CO (JPM.N)
Robert W. Baird wrote there was an attractive buying opportunity in shares of JPMorgan because of their recent underperformance. It added the company's expanding preprovision earnings power should result in more rapid earnings recovery compared with its peers. [ID:nBNG463699]
Shares of the Dow component rose 1.1 percent to $34.52.
BANK OF AMERICA CORP (BAC.N)
The bank's CEO, Ken Lewis, was approached by three former Merrill Lynch executives this year to discuss buying back some or all of their old company, but he refused, according to a report in the Financial Times. [ID:nBNG451308]
Later, former Merrill Lynch executive Winthrop Smith on Friday denied approaching Lewis. [ID:nN19439260]

TEEKAY TANKERS LTD (TNK.N)

Shares advanced 6.4 percent to $26.36.
CARMAX INC (KMX.N)

Shares rose 15 percent to $15.06.
AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL GROUP INC (AIG.N)
Several U.S. private equity firms and Taiwanese financial groups are showing early interest in buying AIG's Taiwan life insurance unit, banking sources said on Friday, in a deal the seller hopes could raise around $2 billion. [ID:nHKG68156]

VIMPELCOM OAO (VIP.N)
