(Reuters) - Following are five key facts about Tilda Swinton, who won best supporting actress on Sunday for her role as a ruthless corporate attorney in the legal thriller "Michael Clayton."

-- Swinton, 47, was born on November 5, 1960, in London.

-- Born into a patrician Scottish military family, Swinton attended West Heath Girls' School, with Princess Diana as one of her classmates.

-- Well-known for being drawn to experimental fare, Swinton has taken various gender-bending roles like Mozart on stage and a nobleman in the film "Orlando" (1992).

-- "The Deep End" in 2001 broadened her fame with American audiences and critics, followed by other Hollywood roles including the White Witch in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" in 2005.
