UPDATE 1-Dr Pepper Snapple CFO to retire in March

* Stewart, 51, to leave company as of March 31, 2010

CHICAGO, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc (DPS.N) said on Tuesday Chief Financial Officer John Stewart will retire early and leave the company at the end of March.

Stewart, 51, has been the soft drink maker's CFO since November 2006. He previously served as CFO of Diageo PLC's (DGE.L) North American arm.

Dr Pepper Snapple said it would conduct an external search for a new CFO and that Stewart would assist in the transition.

Shares of Dr Pepper Snapple, whose products include Sunkist and 7UP soft drinks, closed at $27.02 on Monday. (Reporting by Jessica Wohl; Editing by Derek Caney)
