UPDATE 1-Ecolab quarterly profit in line with forecasts

NEW YORK, April 28 (Reuters) - Ecolab Inc (ECL.N), a provider of cleaning supplies and services for restaurants, hotels and other businesses, reported a 44 percent decline in quarterly profit on Tuesday, matching expectations, and affirmed its full-year profit forecast.

Net earnings fell to $57.4 million, or 24 cents per share, compared with $102.9 million, or 41 cents per share a year earlier.

Excluding charges and tax items, Ecolab earned 33 cents a share, matching Wall Street expectations, according to Reuters Estimates.

Revenue fell 8 percent to $1.35 billion, compared with Wall Street forecasts for $1.41 billion. (Reporting by Nick Zieminski, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
