UPDATE 1-US panel backs Funai, upholds no import order
WASHINGTON, July 28 (Reuters) - A trade panel upheld an order on Monday that barred the import of some digital television and computer screens made by AmTran (2489.TW) and TPV Technology (0903.HK), the panel said.
Japan's Funai Electric Co (6839.OS) had accused the companies of infringing two of its patents, and the ITC ruled that one of them had indeed been infringed. The commission also forbade the importation of devices using the patented technology.
AmTran and TPV had asked to be allowed to sell in the United States while they appealed the patent infringement ruling but the commission said on Tuesday that they could not.
"The commission has determined to deny respondents' motion for a stay pending appeal," the commission said. "Respondents' motion for leave to file a joint reply in support of their motion to stay is also denied."
Taiwan's AmTran makes the Vizio brand flat-screen televisions while TPV Technology is a top global PC monitor maker. It also makes LCD televisions.
