Eller's hobbies are hunting game birds and deer. He traveled to the 2000 Olympics in Sydney as the youngest member of the U.S. shooting team but his chance of glory were all but ended by a ham sandwich. He got food poisoning and was forced to spend two days in bed. He recovered in time to compete but finished 12th.
