FACTBOX - Key parts of N.Korea nuclear talks communique

BEIJING (Reuters) - The latest session of talks aimed at persuading North Korea to abandon nuclear weapons ambitions ended in Beijing on Saturday, with host China issuing a communique spelling out the points of agreement reached.

The six-party talks bring together North and South Korea, host China, the United States, Japan and Russia. They have been seeking agreement on how to verify North Korea's declaration of its nuclear activities.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei read out the document at the end of the talks session and it was then issued by official Chinese media. Here are key quotes:

VERIFYING NORTH KOREA'S NUCLEAR DECLARATION

"The verification mechanism will be made up of experts from the six parties ... The verification measures of the verification mechanism will include inspection of facilities, provision and perusal of documents, face-to-face meetings with technical personnel, and other measures agreed by all six parties."

"The verification mechanism may, when necessary, welcome advice and assistance from the IAEA regarding verification."

The IAEA is the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations nuclear monitoring body.

The specific rules for verification will be discussed and agreed by an expert working group.

AGREEMENT ON MONITORING COMMITMENTS

A monitoring body will be established to address worries about parties failing to abide by promises.

"The task of the monitoring mechanism is ensuring that all parties abide by and fulfil their commitments made within the framework of the six-party talks, including non-proliferation and economic and energy aid to North Korea."

DISABLING YONGBYON

"Disablement of the Yongbyon nuclear facilities will be sought to be completed by the end of October 2008."

The United States and Russia will also strive to complete remaining shipments of promised heavy fuel oil by the end of October.
