Seoul shares open firm; LG Display rises
SEOUL, July 17 (Reuters) - Seoul shares rose on Friday after gains overnight on Wall Street, with positive earnings news from IBM (IBM.N) and JPMorgan (JPM.N) and improving U.S. job data boosting sentiment.
Shares in LG Display (034220.KS) advanced 2.87 percent after the world's No. 2 maker of liquid crystal display (LCD) screens reported on Thursday a return to a quarterly profit after two straight losing quarters. [ID:nSP56216]
The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) was up 0.81 percent at 1,443.76 points as of 0003 GMT.
