SINGAPORE, June 16 (Reuters) - The following are stories from Singapore newspapers on Tuesday. Reuters has not verified these stories.

THE STRAITS TIMES

- Sales of new private residences soared to 1,668 units in May, a record for the year and an increase of 37 percent from 1,214 seen in April, the Urban Redevelopment Authority said.

BUSINESS TIMES

- StarHub (STAR.SI) said it has joined eight Asian telecommunications companies for a new submarine cable project to boost high-speed data connectivity within Asia, dubbed Asia Pacific Gateway.

- Singapore's consumer credit bureau has accepted Indonesia's fourth largest lender, PT Bank Negara Indonesia Tbk (BBNI.JK) as its first associate member under a new category of membership it hopes will attract more financial institutions to share their customers' credit information.
