** Struggling British vanmaker LDV narrowly avoided collapse after a last-minute government bridging loan to allow Malaysian vehicle importer Weststar to buy out the Russian-controlled company. [ID:nL6953969]

** British software company Micro Focus (MCRO.L) is to acquire Borland Software BORL.O, once a major rival to Microsoft (MSFT.O), and assets from Compuware (CPWR.O), it said, to take a position in the software testing market and boost its U.S. presence. [ID:nL6573062]

** Investors in Canada's Verenex Energy Inc. (VNX.TO) said they saw growing risks of delays in the $C499 million ($425 million) sale of the company to China or Libya. [ID:nL6660425]

** Italian energy group Edison SpA (EDN.MI) has made the highest bid for natural gas sales company Pasubio Servizi, sources said, in a further development in the consolidation of the country's energy sector.
