UPDATE 2-Deals of the day -- mergers and acquisitions

April 29 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 1330 GMT on Tuesday.

** British market research firm Taylor Nelson Sofres TNS.L is in talks with Germany's GfK (GFKG.DE) over a nil-premium merger which would create the world's second-largest market information group by revenue. To read more, please double click on [nL29543790]

** Taiwan contract notebook PC maker Wistron Corp (3231.TW) said it will buy Lite-On Technology's (2301.TW) monitor business for T$9.2 billion ($300 million) in cash. [nTP268972]

** Oilfield services group Seadrill (SDRL.OL) has raised its sake in rig group Scorpion Offshore (SCORE.OL) to 36.0 percent and said it would launch an offer for the rest of the stock within four weeks. [nOSL001238]

Pyramid Breweries Inc PMID.O said Magic Hat Brewing Co would acquire Pyramid, through an agreed all-cash tender offer and subsequent merger, at $2.75 per share [nWNAS0363]

** The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) [EBRD.UL] plans to invest up to $94 million into a Kazakh state-controlled private equity fund, the bank said.

Railroad operator Genesee & Wyoming Inc (GWR.N) signed agreement to acquire Cagy Industries Inc for about $78.4 million in cash. [nWNAS0220]

Advisers to the Greek government and Deutsche Telekom (DTEGn.DE) failed to reach a deal on the sale of a government stake in OTE telecom (OTEr.AT) but talks will continue, a senior government official said. [nL29874875]
