July 9 (Reuters) - The following bids, mergers, acquisitions and disposals involving European, U.S. and Asian companies were reported by 2000 GMT on Thursday.

** Validus Holdings Ltd (VR.N) said it agreed to buy Bermuda reinsurance rival IPC Holdings Ltd IPCR.O for $1.65 billion in cash and stock, beating out Flagstone Reinsurance Holdings Ltd (FSR.N) in a bidding war.

** Chipmaker Broadcom Corp (BRCM.O) withdrew its recently sweetened $912-million bid for Emulex Corp (ELX.N) after the storage technology company rejected the bid as too low. [ID:nN09442370]

** French media and telecoms giant Vivendi (VIV.PA) is seeking a 4.5 billion euro ($6.26 billion) syndicated loan to back its acquisition of a majority stake in Zain Group's (ZAIN.KW) African telecoms operations, bankers said. [ID:nL9684638]

** Oil and gas explorer Genesis Petroleum Corp Plc GNSP.L said it agreed to be acquired by Oslo-based Bayerngas Norge for about 14.74 million pounds ($23.87 million) in cash. [ID:nBNG445335]

** Broadband interconnection services provider FiberNet Telecom Group Inc FTGX.O said RCN Corp withdrew its proposal to acquire the company. [ID:nBNG141190]

** Aegis Ltd, the back-office arm of India's Essar Group, has agreed to buy South African outsourcing company CCN Group as part of a plan to invest $60 million in Africa's biggest economy over three years, it said. [ID:nL9562614]

** Russian mobile phone firm VimpelCom (VIP.N) is considering expanding in Asia and might be interested in assets in the region owned by Luxembourg-based telecom operator Millicom (MICC.O). [ID:nL9469191]

** British industrial landlord Segro Plc (SGRO.L) has agreed an offer for rival Brixton BXTN.L that includes a 250 million pound ($402 million) capital hike and a possible 325 million pound buyback of Brixton bonds. [ID:nL9390109]

** Standard Microsystems Corp (SMSC.O) agreed to acquire Tallika Corp for about $3.4 million. [ID:nWNAB5658]

** Datang Telecom (600198.SS), a telecom equipment maker, is in talks to sell a 20-percent stake to China's national pension fund worth as much as 3 billion yuan ($428.6 million), China Daily reported. [ID:nPEK139651]

** Kuwait's Abyaar Real Estate Development Co (ABYR.KW) has offered to acquire Sanam Real Estate Co (SANK.KW), which has initially approved the offer, sending shares of both firms up more than 2 percent. [ID:nL9420092]

** A detailed proposal for a long-anticipated merger between Shanghai Airlines (600591.SS) and China Eastern Airlines (600115.SS) (0670.HK) is expected to be ready next week, the official Shanghai Securities News reported, citing China Eastern's chairman Liu Shaoyong. [ID:nSHA336307]

** France's Sovereign Fund has acquired 5 percent of world cable industry leader Nexans (NEXS.PA), addressing the company's search for a new long-term investor. [ID:nL9342798]
