Singapore Hot Stocks-Banking group DBS in focus

 SINGAPORE, April 13 (Reuters) - Southeast Asia's biggest
bank DBS Group (DBSM.SI) might be in focus on Monday after its
CEO Richard Stanley passed away on Saturday.
 News that No.4 U.S. bank Wells Fargo will report strong
first-quarter earnings sparked a rally on Wall Street and
lifted the dollar on Thursday on hopes a sector that sparked

 -- DBS GROUP (DBSM.SI)
 - The CEO of Southeast Asia's biggest bank, Richard
Stanley, died on Saturday after battling leukemia. The bank
said in a news release there will be no change in its strategic
direction and the board will announce succession plans in due

-- CHARTERED SEMICONDUCTOR (CSMF.SI)
 - The contract chip manufacturer said on Thursday its
rights offering was oversubscribed, with applications totaling
approximately 144 percent of the offering size and net proceeds
expected to be approximately $300 million. [ID:nSN4951641]
-- ASIA PACIFIC BREWERIES (APBB.SI)
 - The Singapore-based brewery, which is partly owned by
Heineken (HEIO.AS), said on Thursday it plans to issue S$1
billion worth of notes in Singapore dollars or in other
currencies and with different interest rates. It has appointed
DBS Bank Ltd and Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC.SI)
to act as arrangers and dealers for the issuance.

 -- MEMTECH INTERNATIONAL (MEMT.SI)
 - The keypad manufacturer said on Thursday it expects to
report a loss in the first quarter of 2009, adding that its
profits in March were not expected to be sufficient to offset

 - Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index .FTSTI rose
2.50 percent to 1,828.51 points on Thursday. Most global
markets were closed on Friday for the Good Friday holiday.
 - The Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI rose 3.14 percent
on Thursday to 8083.38 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index
.IXIC was up by 3.89 percent to 1,652.54 points.
