Origin shares up over 4 pct on BG hostile bid

SYDNEY (Reuters) - Shares in Australia's Origin Energy Ltd rose more than 4 percent on Tuesday after gas producer BG Group launched a hostile A$13.8 billion (6.7 billion pounds) bid for Origin.

By 2:11 a.m. British time, Origin shares were up 4.5 percent at A$16.20, compared with BG's offer price of A$15.50 each, while the broader market was down 0.6 percent.
