SYDNEY, July 10 (Reuters) - Australian packaging group Amcor Ltd (AMC.AX) was still in discussions with global miner Rio Tinto Ltd (RIO.AX) to buy parts of Rio's packaging assets, Amcor said in a statement on Friday.

"Those discussions continue to be incomplete in nature, and there can be no assurance that any binding proposal or transaction will result from those discussions," Amcor said, adding the company was considering all funding options as part of any potential deal.

The statement came in response to a query by the Australian stock exchange on recent movements in Amcor's share price. ($1=A$1.27) (Reporting by Denny Thomas;)
