FACTBOX: Military deaths in Afghanistan

(Reuters) - A British Marine was killed on Sunday in an explosion while on patrol in Afghanistan's Helmand province, the Ministry of Defense said.

The Royal Marine, operating with the 45 Commando unit, was killed in the province's Kajaki area, the MoD said in a statement.

Here are figures for foreign military deaths as a result of violence or accidents in Afghanistan since 2001:
