Minnesota Diversified Industries Announces New President & CEO

ST. PAUL, Minn., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Minnesota Diversified Industries
("MDI"), one of Minnesota's largest non-profit organizations, announced today
that Peter McDermott will become the organization's President and CEO
effective August 18. McDermott currently serves as the President of Itasca
Economic Development Corporation of Grand Rapids, Minn., a non-profit economic
development organization with the mission of helping to create quality jobs in
Itasca County of northeastern Minnesota. His previous experience also includes
general and financial management positions at manufacturing companies in
Minnesota and New Zealand.
    From its Minnesota facilities in St. Paul, Grand Rapids, and Hibbing, MDI
provides manufactured plastic products and packaging and assembly services to
a variety of organizations while fulfilling its mission to supply employment
opportunities to people with disabilities and disadvantages.
    "Peter has a unique combination of experience in managing non-profits and
manufacturing organizations, as well as strong executive and financial
management skills," said Rob Tracy, Chairman of the Board. "In addition, his
personal values match MDI's mission and he has an extensive network in the
Grand Rapids region. For all these reasons, we believe Peter is a perfect fit
for MDI at this time, and we are so pleased to have his exceptional leadership
as we look into MDI's future," said Tracy.
    McDermott takes over as CEO from Pat Marso, a Principal with Manchester
Companies, Inc., a Minneapolis-based turnaround management and financial
advisory firm.  Marso has been serving as MDI's Acting CEO since August 2007
and along with other Manchester professionals has been advising MDI since
June, 2007.  Manchester advisors will continue to work with McDermott for a
period of time to provide financial services and ensure a smooth transition.
