Essentia Joins Open Solutions Alliance, Provides Platform for Collaboration
Among Member Communities
Essentia's membership includes its contribution of new tools to support OSA's
"meta-community"

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Open Solutions Alliance (OSA),
a nonprofit, vendor-neutral consortium dedicated to driving interoperability
and adoption of comprehensive open solutions, today announced that Essentia
has joined as its newest member and will provide a new platform for member
collaboration. Essentia is a leader in providing next-generation platforms and
services for online communities and commerce.
Since its inception, OSA has been committed to building what it defines as
a "meta-community" -- the collective community that is formed when member
companies work on integrations that span multiple open solutions projects.
Until now, this has largely been done by facilitating partnerships among
members and non-members alike, but will now be maximized with the presence of
the EssentiaESP collaboration and community-engagement platform.
Initially, Essentia will enable developer contributions to the Common
Customer View (CCV), the OSA's reference implementation for building
interoperability best practices. Based on the feedback it receives from the
community, the OSA intends to more widely deploy the platform in the coming
months.
"Essentia possesses the OSA's same fervent dedication to the adoption of
open solutions and is honored to contribute our EssentiaESP open source
community platform to further this shared vision," said Gopi Ganapathy,
founder, president and CEO of Essentia. "We expect to play a pivotal role in
OSA to drive our collective mission of interoperability, ease-of-use and
enterprise hardening of commercial open source."
"The OSA's mission has always been about breaking down the silos in open
source and making it easier for developers to work across projects," said
Dominic Sartorio, president of the Open Solutions Alliance. "Essentia's
participation in the OSA will enable us to further meet this goal for the
benefit of the entire commercial open source ecosystem."
Essentia announced the availability of the EssentiaESP platform and
services at the OSCON 2008 conference. Its entry into the space was marked
with the launch of JasperForge, home to the world's largest open source
business intelligence community and hosted by OSA member Jaspersoft.
"As an OSA member, we're delighted to have Essentia join the
organization," said Nick Halsey, vice president of marketing at Jaspersoft.
"Open source communities are evolving and require a collaboration platform
partner that can support the overlapping needs of members of multiple
communities. Essentia delivers the first platform that can support the needs
of such a "meta-community', which is exemplified by the OSA members."
