Ziehm Academy - New Courses on the Practical Implementation of Intra-Operative
Imaging

NUREMBERG, Germany, October 13 /PRNewswire/ -- After the successful start
of the worldwide Ziehm Academy Education Program at the beginning of the
year, Ziehm Imaging, provider of mobile x-ray based imaging systems, is
consequently expanding its training offer. The Ziehm Academy provides
training in line with international standards, in order to keep its partners
up to date with the latest developments in intra-operative x-ray-based
imaging and to make the optimal use of mobile C-arms in a clinical
environment possible.
At the beginning of 2008, Ziehm Imaging founded its Academy, consisting
of a comprehensive education program for its clinical partners and users.
Since then around 1000 participants have been intensively educated all over
the world in all the relevant aspects for the optimal use of mobile C-arms in
a clinical environment. Through initial training, hands-on workshops and
special advanced courses students receive detailed technical and service
knowledge about the entire range of Ziehm Imaging products and their clinical
user area, for example in orthopedics and traumatology.
"In the last few years mobile radioscopy equipment has made huge leaps
forward through the implementation of modern technology. Today, the mobile
C-arm provides excellent picture quality and in conjunction with
computer-aided surgery is developing new areas of implementation, e.g.
endoscopic surgery," explains Martin Herzmann, Director of Global Marketing
at Ziehm Imaging. "Development work is not sufficient to make innovative
technology a safe and effective tool for surgeons. Ensuring that the user
receives continual education is of key importance for the integration and
acceptance of the newest technology. At the Ziehm Academy we offer
comprehensive training, tailored precisely to the needs of the user. It is
our aim to improve the clinical results and therefore the care of the
patient."
New courses and online videos / training
Due to large demand, Ziehm Imaging has extended its course availability
in the USA. In the future there will also be additional training in the areas
of vascular imaging, 3D imaging, surgery, pain treatment, as well as detailed
and background knowledge about mobile C-arms in general. In order to better
meet the needs of the user, Ziehm Imaging has furthermore set up a special
website. At http://www.ziehmacademy-us.com doctors and clients can find short
educational videos and helpful tips about the use of the mobile C-arm in a
clinical environment. In addition to this, users will be kept up to date with
the latest technological developments by newsletter.
From October onwards, clinical user trainings will be available in
Germany in modular form for beginners and advanced participants. Furthermore,
additional educational facilities will be on the training schedule for
distributors as well as medical technicians from reference clinics, to which
all participants will be able to register online next year.
Moreover, as part of the Academy, Ziehm Imaging cooperates closely with
clinical partners and scientific organizations in the USA. In special on-site
courses, the so-called Mobile Learning Labs, doctors and clinic personnel
receive intensive training in the practical implementation of mobile C-arms.
The first Mobile Learning Lab took place at the end of 2007 in Texas in
cooperation with the East Texas Society of Radiologic Technologists. Since
then, the 589 participants of the Learning Labs have been educated at
different facilities. By the end of the year five more Mobile Learning Labs
are planned in the USA (Orlando FL; San Antonio TX; Houston TX; Denver CO and
Long Beach CA). In Germany, Ziehm Imaging is in partnership with the Center
for Applied Radiological Research at the University Hospital Giessen and
Marburg. From December 2008 the Hospital will offer practical courses in
radiation protection as part of the Ziehm Academy.
This year, globally, a total of 37 courses will be on offer in Nuremberg
and the USA.
At the moment, an education centre is being specially built at the main
headquarters in Nuremberg for the academy, which will be opened at the
beginning of 2009. There will be three classrooms and an OP-Showroom for
training purposes, as well as live demonstrations available.
