New, Innovative Engage Response System Encourages Class Participation, Boosts
Achievement
Fun, Interactive Student Response System Seamlessly Integrated With Prosper
Assessment System
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the Florida Educational
Technology Conference (FETC), Pearson launched the Engage(TM) Response System,
an innovative new tool for increasing class participation, assessing student
progress and improving overall achievement. Designed with both the student and
teacher in mind, this new student response system is seamlessly integrated
with the award-winning Prosper(TM) assessment system.
The Engage Response System was developed in collaboration with Renaissance
Learning.
"As leaders in assessment and education technology, this partnership
between Pearson and Renaissance Learning is a natural fit," said Steve
Schmidt, president and chief operating officer, Renaissance Learning.
"Together we will expand the visibility and use of the handheld responders as
a tool to engage learners in the K-12, higher education and other markets. The
integration of Prosper with the Engage Response System is a terrific
combination of interactive testing and enhances data collection and
reporting."
Now teachers can use the Engage Response System with Prosper to easily
create, administer, score and analyze classroom tests, as well as track
progress over time. With assessment data at their fingertips, teachers can
spot weaknesses and provide tailored instruction -- to help students meet and
exceed achievement goals.
"Integrating Prosper with the new Engage Response System gives teachers a
way to motivate students to participate in class and measure their progress,"
said John Harnett, president and CEO of the Data Management group of Pearson.
"When these two innovative education technology tools are combined, students
are more engaged in learning and achieve at the highest levels."
The Engage Response System offers students a fun and interactive way to
participate in classroom instruction. Its colorful responder is easy to use,
functions as a calculator, and is able to store notes, assignments and more.
The Engage software features a toolbar that floats above other
applications on the teacher's computer or projection screen and can be
controlled from anywhere in the classroom. The responder display accommodates
up to six lines of text, allowing teachers to transmit an entire question and
eliminate the need for paper and projectors. The Engage Response System uses
radio frequency technology so teachers simply plug the receiver into any USB
capable computer and they are up and running.
Single classroom sets of the Engage Response System start at $2,199. For
