Tue Jan 8, 2008 7:00am EST
SUNNYVALE, CA, Jan 08 (MARKET WIRE) --
Avot Media, an innovator in intelligent search, near real-time streaming and
personalization of video delivery to web-enabled mobile devices, today
announced the appointment of DeWayne A. Nelon as chief executive officer. He
succeeds acting CEO, Atam Lalchandani, who will continue his role as Avot
Media's
chairman of the board and chief financial officer.

A telecommunications industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience,
Nelon previously served as president and chief executive officer of Ortiva
Wireless, a startup company that provides server-based software to enhance
mobile
television, video, audio and web browsing. While at Ortiva, Nelon successfully
raised $15 million in series B funding for the company. He also closed major
deals with marquee wireless and telecommunications customers.

Prior to joining Ortiva, Nelon served as president, North American Telecoms,
for
LogicaCMG(now Acision), a major provider of IT and wireless telecommunications
systems with worldwide revenues of more than $3 billion. Under his leadership,
North American revenues climbed from $12M in 2001 to $82M in 2005. Nelon
also established and developed relationships with key carriers such as
Cingular, AT&T Wireless, T-Mobile USA, Time-Warner and SBC.

Nelon previously held executive positions at XO Communications, where he had
overall management responsibility for a $61 million dollar telecommunications
business, and Nortel Networks, where he focused on emerging
telecommunications markets generating more than $300 million in revenue.

"DeWayne Nelon represents a rare blend of industry experience and
entrepreneurial drive," said Atam Lalchandani, chairman of the board and
chief financial officer at Avot Media. "He thoroughly understands how to run
a multimillion dollar business, but he also knows how to raise capital and
revenues in order to grow Avot Media into a multimillion dollar business. Our
company has developed a unique offering for the rapidly emerging mobile video
market, and DeWayne is the right person at the right time to help us maximize
this enormous market opportunity."

Avot Media is the provider of Avot mV, the first video solution that
allowsmobile users to find, watch and share any video on the web with optimal
display
quality. Avot Media's unique streaming technology allows users to view
videos in near real-time with television-quality playback. This platform also
provides unlimited video access, intelligent, context-based search capabilities,
stored
user preferences, and personalized playback lists that can be shared with other
mobile users.

"Use of mobile video is growing exponentially as users realize they can view
web-based video on their wireless handsets," noted J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D., vice
president and chief analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "But, up to now, the actual
experience of watching jittery, poor-quality video content with long latency on
a
small wireless-enabled display has been painful. With Avot mV, mobile users
finally have a near real-time streaming video solution that delivers seamless
jitter-free quality video playback. Avot Media's progression, which includes
innovative video search, is set to usher in a brand new era for mobile
video. Spearheading this drive is DeWayne Nelon who has the executive
leadership and fund-raising talent needed to make that happen."

"Throughout my telecommunications career, I have had many opportunities to
work with top-tier carriers," said DeWayne Nelon, chief executive officer at
Avot
Media, reflecting on his two decades of industry experience. "But my real
passion has always been the consumer side of the equation. Avot Media's mobile
video solution focuses exclusively on delivering the best possible video
experience to mobile users so they can enjoy television-quality viewing
wherever they are. Providing this kind of quality at the individual consumer
level is what the future of mobile video is all about, and I am delighted to be
leading Avot Media toward that future."

DeWayne A. Nelon is a native of Fort Worth, Texas, and holds a Masters
Degree in
Business Administration from the University of Texas.
