Kiwibox Names Teen Video Correspondent; 19-year-old Propelled into Celebrity
Media
Popular social network and online magazine sends teen reporter inside the
tents during New York's Fall Fashion Week 2008 to interview top designers on
hot teen trends
NEW YORK, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Magnitude Information Systems, Inc.
(Magnitude) (OTC Bulletin Board: MAGY) disclosed today the following
developments concerning Kiwibox, its primary business unit.
Kiwibox (http://kiwibox.com), the first social networking destination and
online magazine where teens produce, discover, and share content while
connecting with friends, today announced that they have named one of their
teen members as their first video correspondent. As the premiere outlet for
teenage expression, Kiwibox decided to "promote from within" and draw talent
from the tens of thousands of teens who contribute to the social
network/online magazine each day.
Kylie Halperin, a 19-year-old student at the Fashion Institute of
Technology in New York City, was discovered during Kiwibox's Prom fashion
photo shoot earlier this year. Kiwibox staff were so impressed with her
presence on screen that they offered her the newly created position of video
correspondent. As video correspondent, Kylie will be tasked with interviewing
musicians, actors, fashion designers and other people of interest at all
levels ranging from rising star to super-celebrity.
"Kylie represents a new hybrid form of journalism that combines the very
best elements of online media and broadcast reporting with the power and reach
of social networks," said Lin Dai, CEO of Kiwibox.com. "Our commitment has
been to empower our community to build great content, and selecting Kylie to
be our first video correspondent brings a voice to the teenage masses and
allows their opinions and questions to be heard."
Kylie will be attending the Mercedes-Benz Fall Fashion Week 2008 in New
York City from September 5-12 and interviewing top designers and A-List
celebrities. She will be inside the tents reporting on how the new spring
designs will affect teenagers and offering her opinion on the latest fashion
trends from a teen's perspective. Kylie's videos from the event will be
posted on Kiwibox.com and distributed on YouTube.
Since being named video correspondent for Kiwibox, Kylie has interviewed
some of the biggest names in entertainment including: Danity Kane, Nelly and
the cast of Batman: The Dark Knight, among others. She has also been actively
involved in the Democratic and Republican conventions, polling the teen
community for their thoughts on the candidates and the issues.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for teens to really be heard. As a teen
myself, I'm very fortunate to be given this sort of access to celebrities and
have the chance to represent the millions of members on Kiwibox.com," said
Kylie Halperin. "Teens are some of the harshest critics out there and we want
our opinions to be respected. It's totally cool that teen members on Kiwibox
can share their thoughts and perspective, and my reporting and interviews are
great examples of that."
Kiwibox has recently undergone a complete site redesign and offers
enhanced features and functionality that significantly improves the overall
user experience like: dynamic new profile pages, increased prizes for users,
new KiwiGames, KiwiboxTV featuring Kylie and enhanced weekly and daily content
from members around the world.
Since its founding in 1999, Kiwibox has grown its community organically
and also offers a mobile version of the new site to ensure members are never
out of touch with their friends and their favorite Kiwibox content.
