OAKLAND, CA and HONG KONG, Nov 11 (MARKET WIRE) --
GT Nexus today announced that it has been selected by Emirates Shipping
Line to provide transactional e-commerce services for the carrier's
global customers. The ocean carrier will integrate its back office
systems with the portal to enable Web-based paperless business
transactions with shipper and forwarder customers around the world.
"We recognize that our customers put a premium on advanced technology,"
said Romi Kaushal, CEO of Emirates Shipping Line. "We selected GT Nexus
because they are one of the key technology standards for the ocean
industry. This will help us better serve our customers, many of who have
already standardized on GT Nexus for ocean freight management."
"Emirates Shipping Line is committed to helping customers simplify
transactions through automation," said John Urban, GT Nexus president. "We
welcome them to the growing community of ocean carriers that have
standardized on GT Nexus. Our customers place a premium on their carrier's
ability to interact with them through technology."
The GT Nexus trade and logistics portal combines two things -- strategic
business applications and a network of importers, exporters, carriers,
3PLs, and banks. All capabilities are delivered via the software as a
service (SaaS) model, which allows customers to get up and running quickly
and cost effectively. Carriers integrate to the GT Nexus portal once and
then use that single standardized interface to exchange business
information with thousands of global customers.
