MOSCOW, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Moscow's most renowned Russian Fashion Week
(RFW) yet closed this weekend with a fully packed RFW after-party in The Most
club, leaving behind 7 days with 58 collections by the best designers from
Russia and ex-USSR countries along with fashion designers from the USA, Spain,
Italy and Malaysia. DJ Alexandra Richards, daughter of Keith Richards from
Rolling Stones, spinned the discs in the club on RFW closing night.
RFW SS/10, which took place in the Congress Hall of the World Trade Center,
was officially opened last week by Alexander Avdeev, the Minister of Culture
of Russia with the inauguration of Russian Fashion Museum, an unprecedented
nationwide project backed up with Ministry of Culture of Russia. Russian
Fashion Museum is the first of its kind in Russia, and it is going to be
launched in 2010. The basic collection of the just-created Russian Fashion
Museum counts more that 30,000 pieces, including costumes of XV-XX centuries,
unique fabrics, fashion sketches, fashion photos, etc. Famous Russian designer
Slava Zaitsev donated a few classic haute couture dresses of the 1980s to the
Russian Fashion Museum.
From October 17 to 23 RFW showcased the most famous and edgy Russian and
former USSR designers who are currently defining Russian fashion: Anastasia Z,
Anna Direchina, BIRYUKOV, GS by Sabina Gorelik, Daina by Chistova & Endourova,
Dasha Gauser, EVELYN, Hayam Hanukaev, LENA KARNAUHOVA, M.Rimer, Masha
Kravtsova, Narciss, KO by Sultanna Frantsuzova, O.K.M., POUSTOVIT, St.
Bessarion, SV2, TEGIN, Vassa, Viva Vox, Egor Zaitsev, Elena Souproun, Lyudmila
Norsoyan, Fashion House Bouton, PARFIONOVA, Masha Sharoeva, Olga Brovkina,
Yulia Nikolaeva, Yulia Sarkisova and many others.
The RFW show schedule included 11 foreign participants this season. On the
first day RFW guests witnessed the collection Erin Wasson x RVCA created by
Erin Wasson (USA), designer, top model and the face of Maybelline New York.
For the second time RFW was visited by the famous Spanish Agatha Ruiz de la
Prada fashion house, internationally well-known for its extravagant
juicy-colored collections.
Sonny San, a headliner of the Malaysia International Fashion Week (MIFA),
showcased his fabulous sparkling collection on the RFW runway to the great
acclaim of the Russian audience. This show was held within the frameworks of
the partnership between RFW and MIFA.
On October 22 RFW SS/10 held the Italian Day organized in collaboration with
Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI). The Italian lineup of RFW
contained C'N'C Costume National, Gattinoni and new upcoming designers
(N-U-DE) selected by CNMI - Chicca Lualdi BeeQueen, Mauro Gasperi, Cristiano
Burani, Andres Caballero, Gilda Giambra and Leitmotiv. "Moscow is a very
important destination for Italian fashion," said Mario Boselli, President of
CNMI at the press-conference in Moscow. Ennio Capasa (Costume National)
stated, "Russian fashion will become known when it will be backed up with
textile producers." Alexander Shumsky, RFW President said that Italian-Russian
fashion-cooperation started 5 years ago and RFW had presented Russian upcoming
stylists in Milano Fashion Week this season. "The Italian fashion shows in
Moscow are the next step," says Shumsky.
RFW SS/10 shows reached millions of viewers via live broadcast on World
Fashion Channel satellite television and on-line Rambler.ru broadcast.
Past years have established Russian Fashion Week as a major date on the
world's fashion calendar, just behind New York, London, Milan and Paris. RFW
puts Moscow on the global stage every April and October and is supported by
the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation, the Russian Fashion Foundation
and the Russian Union of Businessmen and Entrepreneurs.
