VIDEO: Clinton's hope for Mideast peace

Mon Mar 2, 2009 11:37pm EST
Mar. 2 - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took her first step into the Middle East peace process after a series of meetings in Egypt.

In her first foray into Middle East peacemaking, Clinton maintained the former Bush administration's stance on Hamas. She said no money pledged by the U.S. would go to the militant group that controls the Gaza strip.

Washington says Hamas must first recognize Israel, renounce violence, and sign on to past Israeli and Palestinian agreements. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.
