Claims and Risk Management Service Provider Avizent Appoints Shirley
Collinsworth to Lead Newly Created Transportation Liability Unit
Collinsworth, a 22-year veteran of the transportation claims industry, has an
in-depth understanding of employers' needs and a track record of program
success
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- National claims and risk management
service provider Avizent announced today that Shirley Collinsworth has been
appointed to the position of Claims Manager for the company's new
Transportation Liability Unit.
She will be responsible for managing all aspects of claims handling,
regulations, workflow systems and methodology for this new unit, which was
created specifically to help existing clients in the transportation industry
better manage their liability claims.
Collinsworth has 22 years of experience in the commercial transportation
industry, including 13 years providing proactive oversight of complex
commercial auto and general liability claims, and nine years serving as a
Claims Manager for a major national transportation organization. Most
recently, she was Assistant Vice President and Claims Manager for Pacer
International, a leader in the transportation and logistics industry.
Collinsworth's approach to claims management has helped her to create
liability programs that generate annual savings totaling millions of dollars.
"We recognize that transportation claims management is a highly specialized
field," said Thomas W. Watson, CEO of Avizent. "We currently provide
workers' compensation claims services to a growing segment of clients in the
transportation industry and recognized that we needed to branch out to meet
their liability needs as well. Ms. Collinsworth brings insight and experience
to help us provide the highest level of service to our clients, while we
expand our transportation industry expertise."
Avizent's new Transportation Liability Unit will work to ensure that claims
are resolved to our clients' best advantage by ensuring prompt contact with
the claimant, client and witnesses; and by providing complete assessments and
identifying subrogation potential. Collinsworth notes that her approach to
major transportation claims is about doing the right thing and treating people
fairly - while also ensuring that claims are legitimate and savings for
clients are maximized.
"One of the most important things we can do to help our clients manage their
liability costs is to give them the guidance needed to train and prepare their
drivers," notes Collinsworth. "When drivers contact their liability provider
immediately following an accident; and take simple steps such as keeping their
emotions in check, securing photos, getting the names of all parties involved;
we can better manage the claim - and ultimately help our clients save money
and reduce the risk of litigation."
Collinsworth is a Certified Claims Professional (CCP) and a member of the
Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA).
