BACKGROUND: EHOP is premiering the first home fitted with energy

efficient improvements under their new Green Grants program.

Green Grants offers low-income homeowners of unincorporated

areas (S.D. 1) in East Los Angeles an opportunity to have

their homes fitted with photovoltaic panels (solar panels),

tankless water heaters, and/or ceiling and under floor

insulation.

These environmentally responsive and sustainable enhancements

have the potential to save the homeowners with limited

resources up to 50 percent of their current energy bills. In

addition each 3KW solar system will remove nearly 5000 lbs of

CO2 in the first year -- equal to planting one acre of trees.
