Agatha Christie: Death on the Nile takes top honors as Oberon
Media's publishing unit creates a classic game from a classic story
SEATTLE--(Business Wire)--
As the booming casual games business celebrates its success here,
a company with strong local roots takes top honors for its game based
on a classic novel from one of the bestselling authors in history.
"It is an incredible honor to have the team recognized in this way
by the casual gaming community," said Don Ryan, Oberon's COO and head
of I-play. "Our strategy of creating unique and compelling casual game
content from licensed IP certainly seems to be resonating with casual
gamers around the world."
Designed and produced in I-play's Seattle studio by Jane Jensen
and Robert Adams, the same team that created the recent blockbuster
hit Women's Murder Club - Death in Scarlet, based on James Patterson's
mega-selling novels, Death on the Nile has been praised by players and
press alike for its fresh adaptation of a mystery classic from the
bestselling novelist of all time, Agatha Christie.
"As a lifelong fan of Agatha Christie, it was an honor to be given
the responsibility for delivering these timeless stories in a
completely new way," said Jane Jensen, the game's designer. "We tried
to take a fresh approach that appealed both to people who already knew
the story, as well as new Christie fans who had not yet been
introduced to her wonderful works."
"Creating an interactive story that is accessible, engaging and
fun, while remaining true to what has made Agatha Christie the
bestselling novelist of all time were our top priorities in creating
this game," said Robert Adams, the game's producer.
Death on the Nile, and its successor, Agatha Christie: Peril at
End House have combined for tens of millions of downloads since their
launch and are available at www.iplay.com.
Zeeby award winners are determined by the votes of visitors to
popular casual games editorial site Gamezebo.com.
