TORONTO, ONTARIO, Nov 06 (MARKET WIRE) --
Participants at the second annual IPAC public sector leadership
conference in Toronto took a break yesterday evening to honour the
winners of the 2009 IPAC Deloitte Public Sector Leadership Awards.
Coast-to- coast, this year's winners demonstrate a range of achievements
that, individually and collectively, reinforce the benefits of public
sector leadership to all Canadians.
"These awards help foster a culture of innovation and support the
inspirational work of public servants across the country," said Paul
Macmillan, Deloitte's national Public Sector practice leader. "Canadians
deserve to know just how hard and well their public servants work for
them and the public servants deserve an opportunity to showcase the fruit
of their labour," he added.
The leaders of public sector organizations are one of Canada's most
important assets. Recognizing and building the cadre of public sector
leaders is a critical ingredient in the success of our country and our
communities. This national awards program encourages and acknowledges
outstanding leadership within federal, provincial and municipal levels of
government, as well as in health care, educational and not-for-profit
organizations across the country.
"We have only scratched the surface in terms of recognizing the work
being done within the public sector, said Gabriel Sekaly, Chief Executive
Officer of IPAC. "With every passing year, we are more and more excited
about the leadership and innovation that we're seeing. It couldn't be a
better time to be a proud Canadian," concluded Sekaly.
