myCMDB and CMDB360 combine to complement and further strengthen SAP(R) IT
Service Management by providing a single view of an organization's
mission-critical SAP infrastructure

VIENNA, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Novell today announced its
configuration management interface software, myCMDB(TM) 4.6, and database
product, CMDB360(TM) 4.6, have been certified by SAP AG to integrate the SAP®
IT Service Management (SAP ITSM) application. myCMDB and CMDB360 deliver
organizations complete, near real-time insight into the relationships and
interdependencies between business services, workloads and the IT environment.
As a result, data centers can more easily implement accurate infrastructure
changes to address dynamic business needs.

By allowing users to intelligently manage their IT infrastructure, myCMDB and
CMDB360 complement SAP ITSM by enabling customers to reduce the risks of
service outages, enrich their implementation of information technology
infrastructure library (ITIL) processes, and better manage configurations
across physical and virtual environments.

"SAP ITSM offers an ITIL-compliant IT support solution for high-performing IT
service desks where access to up-to-date configuration data is of key
importance," said Tim Bolte, vice president of SAP CRM. "myCMDB and CMDB360
work together to complement SAP ITSM by providing a fully federated view of
configuration elements and their dependencies, thus significantly enhancing
the ease and accuracy of configuration management processes and accelerating
ITIL initiatives."

myCMDB and CMDB360 combine to complement and enhance SAP ITSM by providing
important modeling and configuration management capabilities to support
ongoing business services and ITIL processes, including service desk,
incident, problem and change management. When integrated with SAP ITSM, myCMDB
and CMDB360 will help IT organizations reduce overall response time to service
incidents while maximizing business service availability. The integrated
solutions will also help customers lower risks of outages caused by planned
changes to their IT infrastructure - the leading cause of up to 60 percent of
today's outages.

"Novell's configuration management products are built upon one of the longest
and most established commitments in the industry to work with all third-party
solutions and utilize standards such as ITIL," said Dennis Drogseth, analyst
at Enterprise Management Associates. "myCMDB and CMDB360 are open, versatile
solutions that can automate key implementation, configuration and operational
aspects of CMDB management and support core requirements for enhanced
communication across IT. As a result they should provide a natural, adaptive
fit for existing SAP IT environments, providing improved operational
efficiencies, enhanced service performance, and more effective change
management control."

myCMDB is a unique and powerful new visualization application that works with
CMDB360 and other commercially available CMDBs to quickly extract IT
configuration and workload information in near real-time, model changes to the
IT infrastructure, and generate reports that graphically show how proposed IT
changes impact business services. myCMDB's ability to interface with virtually
any of today's existing CMDB solutions positions it well for those companies
looking to build a configuration management system (CMS).

The SAP Integration and Certification Center has certified that Novell CMDB360
4.6 successfully integrates with the SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP
CRM) 7.0 application via enterprise services. Today's announcement was made at
SAP TechEd 2009 Vienna, where Novell is exhibiting in booth 2.11.

"We're extremely pleased to have leveraged our CMDB technology leadership to
further strengthen our relationship with SAP and its customers," said Joe
Wagner, senior vice president and general manager of Systems and Resource
Management at Novell. "Now through the certified integration of myCMDB and
CMDB360 with SAP ITSM, users can reduce the risks of service outages, improve
ITIL processes, and more effectively manage configurations running in
virtualized environments."

The first Novell® channel partner to distribute the SAP-certified Novell CMDB
solution is ecenta, a products and consulting firm specializing in the support
of SAP Business Suite software, as well as the SAP CRM application and the SAP
NetWeaver® technology platform.

"ecenta has been an SAP services partner for several years," said Dr. Thorsten
Wewers, executive Board Member at ecenta. "We believe the certified
integration provided between myCMDB and CMDB360 with SAP ITSM will enable
users to more quickly implement their CMDB projects and integrate with
existing systems management solutions."

myCMDB and CMDB360 are part of Novell's Business Service Management portfolio,
which contains solutions to minimize cost, complexity and risk associated with
IT changes. Business Service Management is a key component of the
Service-Driven Data Center, which provides customers with the automation and
tools to measure performance of business services across physical and virtual
infrastructures.
