June 26-27 Dulles Conference on SharePoint Web Technology

Sun Jun 14, 2009 8:40pm EDT
RESTON, Va., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The SharePoint Users Group of Washington
D.C. (SUGDC.ORG) will hold its third annual SharePoint conference on June
26-27 at the Holiday Inn Dulles in Sterling, Virginia. The conference
assembles regional SharePoint users groups, prominent third party vendors, and
knowledge management resources from around the country.

SUGDC.ORG founder, independent consultant Gary Blatt, noted that, "Booming
SharePoint sales and mushrooming users groups feed a growing 'buzz' around
SharePoint's potential." SharePoint empowers users to manage web sites and
streamline online work processes. Its features include collaboration and
reporting and organizational portals and search.

On June 26-27 SUGDC.ORG expects to attract 200 speakers, exhibitors and
attendees to further exploit SharePoint from a technical and managerial
perspective. Since 2005, this group has educated hundreds of SharePoint
users, from developers and administrators to managers and "newbies," through
monthly meetings, online resources and annual conferences. "Getting the most
from your SharePoint investment requires the insight necessary to develop and
deploy innovative solutions," said Tom Johnson, senior director of security
and collaboration solutions at Exostar. "SUGDC.ORG provides a forum where
practitioners, thought leaders, and industry experts can gather to exchange
ideas and real-world experiences that benefit all of us."

Bob Mixon, noted SharePoint expert and keynoter of this year's conference,
cites a need for an "enterprise architecture" to logically organize users and
data at the outset of a SharePoint deployment. In another plenary, Ron
Simmons, a senior manager with the U.S. Marine Corps, emphasizes the need for
cultural change to translate SharePoint Web 2.0 technology into improved
enterprise performance. This June's event anticipates Microsoft's release of
SharePoint 2010 later this year, and any interested press are welcome to a
pass to cover the conference.

See the SUGDC.ORG web site for the conference agenda, how to pre-register
($299 for two days), as well as information on over 40 speakers, 15
exhibitors, and other resource sponsors.
