Further Strengthens Multi-Channel Strategy
CHICAGO--(Business Wire)--
Dreams, Inc. (AMEX:DRJ), a vertically integrated leader in the
sports licensed products industry, announced today that it has
acquired the assets of StarStruck/ProTeam, a catalog-focused retailer
in the sports licensed products industry.
As a result of this acquisition, StarStruck's catalog and
E-commerce business will now be able to leverage a much wider product
offering, more robust E-Commerce platform, a cost-efficient back
office and a more sophisticated set of marketing tools and expertise
through Dreams' retail subsidiary. In addition, through the addition
of a catalog business, Dreams will further strengthen its
multi-channel approach to retail, while opening up a new stream for
continued revenue growth.
"In the past, FansEdge customers have consistently expressed a
desire to receive a catalog, which is something we have been exploring
for a while" said Dreams Retail president and FansEdge founder Kevin
Bates. "Purchasing StarStruck presented the company with the perfect
opportunity for expansion, with more than 10 years of experience in
catalog-focused retail and more than a three million customer base.
The catalog channel is a critical part of the multi-channel shopping
experience, and we are confident that the synergy between StarStruck
and Dreams' family of brands provides a competitive edge in
multi-channel shopping that will bring added value to customers and
shareholders for years to come."
Star Struck/ProTeam is one of the largest catalog and internet
retailers of licensed Major League and Minor League merchandise in the
country. The company also produces the Official Catalog for The Mets.
The catalogs contain a vast array of products ranging from core items
such as caps and jerseys to a wide range of collectibles. In addition
to the print catalogs, Star Struck/ProTeam also has a significant
internet presence.
"By combining our strength with that of Dreams Retail, we see a
tremendous upside for both companies and our customers," said Jason
Scheets, president of StarStruck/ProTeam. "The two companies
complement each other perfectly, offering an enormous product mix
online, through catalogs and through retail stores to sports fans
across the world."
StarStruck/ProTeam catalog will continue to circulate, along with
a new FansEdge catalog. Both will be mailed out within the next 30
days.
