Comprehensive VoIP/UC Security Solution Protects Nortel Enterprise Platforms
RICHARDSON, Texas, April 8, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Sipera Systems, the
leader in comprehensive VoIP/Unified Communications security solutions, today
announced its Sipera IPCS(TM) line of security appliances has been designated
a Nortel Select Product. The Sipera IPCS products are now recognized as a
best-in-class technology that strategically complements Nortel's Communication
Server 2100.
The Sipera IPCS products achieved Nortel Select Partner status based on
analysis of the company's VoIP/UC security solutions and input from Nortel
customers. Additionally, the Sipera IPCS products successfully completed
compatibility testing in a Nortel Lab environment, earning the designation of
Nortel Compatible Product. As part of the Select Product Program, Nortel
Partner Advantage resellers can order Sipera IPCS products and support through
Nortel. This gives Nortel customers' access to Sipera IPCS products as a
recommended third-party product via Nortel channel partners.
"Security is top of mind for our customers and Nortel views VoIP security
as a key strategic differentiator," said Peter Simmons, product management
leader, Nortel. "By working with Sipera, we can offer customers best of breed
real-time VoIP threat prevention, VoIP policy compliance and secure VoIP
access functionality in one device through a tightly integrated Sipera IPCS
appliance."
By providing comprehensive, real-time security for the Nortel
Communication Server 2100, the Sipera IPCS products securely enable Nortel
customers to deploy UC capabilities. Sipera IPCS appliances are managed by a
single, centralized console and can be deployed in the demilitarized zone
(DMZ) to secure SIP trunks and VoIP remote users, in front of the Nortel
Communication Server 2100 to protect the core systems, or between enterprise
networks such as the voice and data virtual local area network to enforce UC
policies.
"To realize the cost savings, business continuity advantages, and
productivity improvements of Unified Communications, it's essential to ensure
the privacy of communications, authentication of the users and end-points,
enforce policies and protect the network and devices from attack," said Eric
Winsborrow, Chief Marketing Officer for Sipera. "As customers extend their
VoIP network, Nortel recognizes the value of a partner that is 100 percent
focused on real-time security. Sipera's unique combination of a dedicated VoIP
vulnerability research lab and deep Unified Communications expertise has been
embraced by mutual Nortel and Sipera customers where security was top of
mind."
The Sipera IPCS products offer Nortel Communication Server 2100 customers
a variety of security functionalities including UC threat prevention, UC
policy compliance, and secure UC access in a single device. The product family
spans four different appliances supporting 200 to 100,000 users with
throughput from 10 Mbps to 2 Gbps.
