TORONTO, April 11 /PRNewswire/ - Virgin Mobile Canada has
political fever, and is calling on Canadians to cast their vote for Barack
Obama and tell them which Obama-themed ad should be the next in Virgin
Mobile's "You Call The Shots" campaign.
As part of its latest campaign to introduce their new "no-con" contracts
to mobile phone lovers from coast to coast, Virgin Mobile has run a new series
of ads in Metro News featuring politicians who are making the news. First
Hillary Clinton wondered if she could get her bill under control. Next, former
New York Governor Elliot Spitzer was lamenting about how tired he was of being
treated like a number.
After an overwhelming show of public support both in the U.S. and here at
home and much speculation about their next target, Virgin Mobile has set its
sights on another U.S. presidential hopeful, Senator Barack Obama. This time
however Virgin Mobile and Metro News have formed a joint ticket to let
Canadians "call the shots." The voting public now has their chance to weigh in
on the campaign and vote for which Barack Obama spot should be next in line.
Starting today visitors to metronews.ca can check out four presumptive
nominees for the next ad in the series. These ads provide a deep and
insightful perspective into what might... or might not be on Barack Obama's
mind right now. This winner-takes-all competition will see the elected spot
featured in the Friday, April 25 edition of Metro.
Voting is open 'til 3 a.m. on Thursday April 24, at which time the Virgin
Mobile Marketing Commander and Chief will be standing by to take the call
about the winning ad. This is an open primary which means that no matter what
your political allegiance - Independent, Conservative, Liberal, NDP, Bloc
Quebecoise, Democrat, Republican, or whoever you support - everyone is welcome
to cast their ballot and play their part in this democratic process.
"When the general public have an ad campaign that lets them choose the
winner, not only is it democracy at its best but it really is change you can
believe in," said Nathan Rosenberg, chief marketing officer, Virgin Mobile
Canada. "This is your chance to play a part in our campaign and despite rumors
and conjecture about which ad will come out on top, it is now in the hands of
the voters."
