Targacept to Present at the Lazard Capital Markets 6th Annual Healthcare Conference

Targacept, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRGT), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company
developing a new class of drugs known as NNR Therapeutics, today announced that
J. Donald deBethizy, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, is scheduled
to present at the Lazard Capital Markets 6th Annual Healthcare Conference at the
St. Regis Hotel in New York City on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.
Eastern Standard Time. 

Dr. deBethizy`s presentation will be webcast and accessible from the Investor
