LAKE WORTH, Fla., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Graphic Security Systems
Corporation (GSSC) in the USA has filed suit against Nautilus Security of the
UK over security technology sold in the Brand Protection and Document Security
market. GSSC alleges that Nautilus is marketing products that infringe GSSC's
intellectual property.
The suit was filed late Tuesday, December 16th in Greenville, South
Carolina federal court.
GSSC has provided its patented security technology to
government-authorized security printing firms and major corporations for more
than twenty-five years.
In 1997, GSSC first introduced one of its digital encoding technologies on
US postage stamps with its licensee, the United States Postal Service.
"It is very disturbing to find out that companies who are in the business
to protect against counterfeiting are themselves misusing others' intellectual
property," said Thomas Alasia, President of GSSC.
In its case against Nautilus Security, GSSC seeks injunctive relief to
prevent Nautilus from using GSSC's patented technology. GSSC may also seek
damages from Nautilus.
"On several occasions, GSSC contacted Nautilus to discuss this matter, but
they refused, potentially putting itself and its clients at risk," Mr. Alasia
said.
Currently, Graphic Security Systems Corporation holds more than 40 patents
on security technology for Brand Protection and Document Security in the US
and worldwide.
"GSSC offers a wide range of security products and only sells official
licensed products," Mr. Alasia notes. "Our customers can trust the integrity
of our products."
To obtain licensing or patent information or a list of authorized
suppliers, please contact GSSC. All information will be kept confidential.
