South Pasadena Cancer Center Grand Opening Brings State and City Officials
Together for an Evening
SOUTH PASADENA, Calif., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- An evening under the stars at
the South Pasadena Cancer Center drew hundreds of distinguished guests from
the State, local cities and medical and business communities as the South
Pasadena Cancer Center officially opened with a ceremonial ribbon cutting last
Thursday night.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich and California Assemblymember
Ted Lieu paid special recognition to the Center and Dr. Helen Chen along with
mayors from five cities throughout the County. Mayor Mitchell Ing of Monterey
Park and Vice Mayor Stephen Sham of Alhambra also recognized the South
Pasadena Cancer Center and its physicians for their ongoing work in medicine
and cancer research.
Dr. Lawrence Weiss opened the evening with special thanks to the many elected
officials in attendance all of whom supported the Center, including Mayor Pro
Tem of South Pasadena, Dr. Richard Schneider, Mayor of San Marino, Eugene Sun
and Mayor of Walnut, Joaquin Lim. Dr. Weiss then announced South Pasadena
Cancer Center's development of the California Cancer Specialists Foundation
for Cancer Care & Education, a non-profit foundation dedicated to the
expansion of community programs in cancer treatment, prevention and awareness.
With over 180 physician experts in cancer, California Cancer Specialists
Medical Group developed the South Pasadena Cancer Center as the first of
several centers designed to expand its reach into local communities. Within
Southern California, it is the only free standing outpatient cancer center of
