DETROIT, July 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Producers of the Creative Cities
Summit 2.0 (CCS2) announced today that Detroit Renaissance is providing major
support to the Summit taking place at the Marriott Renaissance Center in
downtown Detroit beginning Sunday October 12, 2008. Detroit Renaissance is a
private, non-profit leadership organization dedicated to accelerating the
region's economic growth.
"We are honored to have support from an organization recognized for its
innovative leadership in bringing about the economic rebirth of Detroit," said
CCS2 Producer, Peter Kageyama. "They represent everything that this summit
stands for, and we are hopeful that other organizations not already on board
will follow their visionary example. Many have and we are grateful for their
collaboration and their support."
Detroit Renaissance President Doug Rothwell cited the fact that creative
communities positively impact cities and promote talent retention as a major
reason for the high level of support. Detroit Renaissance is contributing
financially as a Megalopolitan Level Sponsor as well as assisting in the
planning of the event. Rothwell will also participate in a Summit plenary
session on Creative Cities Initiatives with Kelly Lee from Innovation
Philadelphia.
The Creative Cities Summit 2.0 is being held in Detroit because, like many
industrial cities, it is working to evolve into a high tech, futuristic,
entrepreneurial center of excellence that embraces knowledge, talent and
creativity. Participants will include architects, designers, urban planners,
civic leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, students, educators and community
leaders sharing their experiences, projects, successes and failures as they
re-imagine and rethink cities. For more detailed sponsorship information:
